● Rhubarb Jam - Also great as a plum substitute - 15 seeds ☆ Perfect for single use Familiar as a herb. It produces long stems with round leaves from the base, similar to fuki (Japanese butterbur). In early summer, cut the large growing leaf stalks from the base, peel them like fuki, and cook with sugar to make jam, or use in pies and cakes. Growing from seed is easy. In areas south of the general climate zone, plant in a well-ventilated location that does not receive direct afternoon sun. *The color of the stems may vary from greenish to reddish depending on the climate and growing conditions. Sowing period: April-May, September Germination temperature: 20°C Harvest: Around June-July Uses: Jam, pies Sunlight: Prefers sunny locations ★ Cultivation method It is resistant to cold but weak to heat, so choose a well-drained location that gets partial shade in the summer. Since the plants spread widely, allow ample spacing of 60cm to 1m. *The leaves are poisonous (contain oxalic acid), so always discard them and only eat the stems. Overwintering: It does not tolerate Japanese summers well. Cool the base of the plant with mulching (straw, etc.) and immediately remove any flower buds that appear to protect the plant's energy. ?? Recipe examples ◎ Jam: Dice the stems, coat with 40% sugar, and simmer for about 10 minutes until the pieces break down. ◎ Compote Dice the stems, drizzle with honey, microwave for 2-3 minutes, and let cool. ◎ Crumble Top the sugared stems with a mixture of butter and flour, and bake in the oven. ◎ Plum substitute Simmer with a small amount of salt until thickened. It can be used as a substitute for neri-ume (plum paste) with a similar sourness and texture. #GardeningSaleNow ? #HerbSeedsSaleNow ? Click here for the manufacturer's site
