Beautiful signed studio pottery vase by Ken Reese, featuring a rich dark blue lava glaze with subtle iron spotting and tonal variation. This hand-thrown vessel showcases a classic American studio pottery aesthetic, with a rounded, organic form and a high-fire glaze that transitions from deep midnight blue to softer gray-blue tones toward the base. The surface exhibits a natural crater / lava texture, giving the piece depth and visual interest in changing light. The base is clearly hand-signed “Ken Reese”, indicating an individual studio artisan rather than mass production. Details Artist: Ken Reese (signed) Type: Studio pottery vase / vessel Height: Approx. 8 inches Material: High-fired stoneware Technique: Wheel-thrown, reduction-fired Glaze & Style Deep blue lava / crater glaze Iron-speckled surface with organic variation Subtle tonal fade toward the base Influenced by 1970s–80s American studio pottery and Japanese-inspired ceramics Condition Excellent vintage condition No chips, cracks, or repairs observed Minor kiln speckling consistent with studio production Display Appeal A striking piece for: Modern / minimalist interiors Wabi-sabi or organic décor Studio pottery collections Shelf, console, or cabinet display
